Judy Peterson joined the staff as Director of Music in 1994. She and husband, Ron, have been members of Southern Hills since 1991. Drawn to the church by its strong music program, they were equally impressed with the diversity and tolerance they found.

Born in Iowa, Judy's family moved to the gulf coast of Texas when she was twelve. This was somewhat of a culture shock, but she soon learned to understand and speak "southern" fluently. Judy received her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Music Performance at Texas State University (formerly Southwest Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas. She taught school, third and fourth grades, prior to starting their family. Ron is a retired physician's assistant. They have two grown sons: Brandon, a Navy SEAL, married to Wendy; and Aaron, owner of OK Renovations here in Edmond, married to Kimberly. Aaron and Kimberly have a daughter, Maddie, who is the sunshine of Ron and Judy's lives.

When not at church, Judy is an assistant director of the OK City Chorus, Sweet Adelines, International. She has served as Director of Musical Activies on the International level in this organization. Her chorus will compete for the world championship this fall in Honolulu, Hawaii where they habitually rank in the top ten.
