The Regional Church's Disaster Response Team has been following
developments arrising from Hurricane Gustav’s hit on the Gulf Coast yesterday.  Of most immediate
concern here in Oklahoma is serving the many
evacuees of the storm who are seeking shelter in the Oklahoma City
area.

Living Hope, Living Joy Women's Retreat

On Sunday August 24th we will be drawing the summer to a close and celebrate Back to Church Sunday with a SHCC County Fair.  There will be a combined worship service at 10, followed by Sunday School at 11, and then at 11:30 we will all meet back up in the Fellowship Hall for a chili cook-off, judging of pies, quilts, hand work, crafts, heifers, goats, and MUCH MORE!

Come to free Yoga classes on Monday nights beginning July 14 for 8 weeks.

All you have to do is sign up in the office, dress in comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat! (mats can be purchased from instructor or at Target)

Aug. 11—15 for 10-14 year olds.

Register by July 13

Bring your children, grandchildren, and neighbors to a week of fun and exploration of our God given gifts of creativity.  Artists in Residence will teach us music, art and drama.  And we'll look at where our gifts come from—GOD!  And how to hold on to our gifts and use them for GOD.

Give a child 10-14 yrs old a week of exploring God's love, a week of safety, a week of community! 

THEN—Come to a church wide ART SHOW where we'll see and hear our children "show off" their talents and gifts. 

Pick up a bag in the gathering area.

Fill the bag with foods listed on the outside.

Bring it to SHCC and we'll deliver it to the HOPE Center.

There are many hungry in our community.  We are blessed with enough and a community that will stand with us if we grow hungry.  Thank God for your abundance by feeding Christ's sheep.

This is a great activity for your children.  Take a child to the grocery and let them fill a bag using their allowance.  Teach our children to be thankful and to be Christ's hands and feet.

Sept. 13-14 at Sullivant Retreat Center in Norman.

The women of Southern Hills will gather from 10:00 am Sat--12:00 pm Sunday to explore Hope—how to find and hold on to hope in a sometimes hopeless world.

We'll pray together, sing together, eat together, worship together and explore God's presence in our lives.

Come be renewed, re-energized, reintroduced to your sisters at SHCC.

Southern Hills Christian Church nursery is in need of over 18 and under 18 caregivers to work in the nursery. The caregiver's job is a very important one. The nursery is where children first experience church and God. It is important that the caregiver shows our children immense love, acceptance, and keeps their safety a priority. If you know of anyone who would be good at this job please contact Tara.

There was a typo in the July Children's Newsletter.  The children will be going to Harvest Hills Park on JULY 18, not June 18.

The Child Development Center's end of the year program is May 13 at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary. All are Welcome!
