I am a native Oklahoman and have grown up in the Christian Church (DOC). I served as Rev. Glenn Cowperthwaite’s music director at Capitol Hill Christian Church while I was attending graduate school at OCU. I have a BA degree in Music Education from Northeastern OK State at Tahlequah, a Master of Music degree from OCU, and a Master of Performing Arts degree a.b.t. from OCU, with additional studies at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. I was an Associate Professor of Voice at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 2000 through 2008. Prior to my professorship, I had a long and successful classical singing career both here in the United States and abroad. While living 20 years in Europe, I performed in such countries as Austria, Germany, France, and Italy. As well as my career in opera, I have performed a full range of musical theatre including Oklahoma at our own Lyric Theatre. In addition, I also play piano and organ. I have abundant experience with church choirs and have an openness, and appreciation for a variety of musical tastes and expressions.
